The client, a large branded work apparel and facility-services company, wanted to use Salesforce1, the Salesforce mobile platform, to deliver a customized mobile experience to its sales representatives. The client follows a very prescriptive sales process which requires updating multiple records in Salesforce for each step in the process, such as accounts, contacts, opportunities, and associated activities. Since mobile solutions require ease-of-use with as few taps, page switches, and field updates as possible, the client wanted a solution that leveraged the Salesforce1 platform while providing a customized experience.
Experis built a set of customized Publisher Actions on the Salesforce1 platform. These Publisher Actions were implemented using Visualforce pages and the jQuery Mobile framework to provide a cross-platform, mobile-friendly look and feel. With this combination of technologies, the client was able to easily deploy the solution to iPhones and multiple types of Android devices.
The solution was delivered to the client for testing and subsequently rolled out to the entire team of sales representatives. The sales team is now able to call on a customer, update the associated Salesforce account, contact information, and opportunity record, as well as create new events and tasks related to the opportunity, all from their mobile devices. The client’s Salesforce account manager was so impressed with the application that they are using it as a demonstration of the power of the Salesforce and Salesforce1 platform with their other customers.
